This morning as Dallin and I were getting ready for work, he let out a sad sigh and said, "At this time four weeks ago we were in the airport getting ready to leave for Mexico..." Silence as we both remembered.
Recollections like this have been a sort of variation on a theme for the past month, with one or the other or both of us bemoaning the lapse in time since our trip. "A week ago today we were snorkeling with those giant sea turtles in Akumal"..."It was two weeks ago when we watched the sun set at Punta Sur" or "Remember how we completely cleaned that one taco place out of flan?" or "when those two big iguanas were chasing each other and one of them rubbed up against my leg as it ran by me?"
The money we put toward our Mexico trip was originally intended for a television. We were tired of people asking us when we were going to get one. We didn't want to be perceived as those kind of people who are supercilious and haughty about not having a TV --you know the type.
However, we've realized that we are the kind of people who tend to value experiences over material gadgets (and, yes, this time we are being a tad haughty) and so decided to go to Mexico instead. It will be nice when we buy a TV and don't have to watch movies on our computer anymore, but I don't think we will mark the number of weeks that pass from the day we purchased it. I really don't.

Oliver and I say "OH Mexico!" to each other fairly regularly. We miss it too. I love love love these memories. You are the best. And TVs are over rated.
