Resolve.

So this is 2011, and what will you do?

There are some new years when my mind is really turned to thoughts of new beginnings and resolutions and then other years (and this is usually the norm) where I just have a rollover order of the previous year's goals---normally because I did such a poopy job on 'em the first, second, third, (etc) time.

2010 is a different story. 2010 was a banner year for Erin Jo Merrill when it came to keeping resolutions. Warning: I am about to toot my own horn (I really hate that expression--probably because it has the word "toot" in it)

Kept Resolutions:
32 - pounds lost (Goal was "Lose Weight" Ha! Who says vague goals don't *work?)
27 - books read (Goal was a 2 per month average)
15 - personal journal entries (I was aiming for 1 per month)
0 - servings of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese (Goal was "Don't eat Mac-n-Cheese to Lose Weight")

To celebrate that last one, I thought about treating myself to a bowl of mac-n-cheese, but then Dallin showed me this...

I know that Kraft Mac-n-Cheese is not quinoa with a side of broccoli or anything, but if it's worse than Spaghettio's (yuck!) maybe I should think about just giving it up entirely.

Kurt Vonnegut said, "There is no reason why good cannot triumph as often as evil. The triumph of anything is a matter of organization. If there are such things as angels, I hope that they are organized along the lines of the Mafia."

In that same spirit, I submit that there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to keep our New Year's Resolutions as often as we fail to keep them. (Did I say that right?)

I'm still riding the high of 2010's success and feeling like a pillar of resolve right now. I'm going to make new resolutions. I'm going to keep them. I'm going to keep the crap out of them.

*Oops--apparently these people do along with a plethora of others.

EJ you amaze me!! I didn't keep my 1.5 resolutions from last year. I will do better. I will kick the crap out of my resolutions like you do!

Can't wait to catch up soon.

Where were those 32 pounds that you lost? I had no idea you had that much to even lose! Did you lose muscle too? : ) And good for you for achieving the goals you set for yourself. Reaching a goal is ALWAYS a wonderful feeling.
